The Statement
I strive to make art that is striking, bold, and beautiful. I deliberately work with steel that is straight and angular because I appreciate the inherent structure it provides — and the challenge. The “art” of each piece involves fashioning that rigid material into an organic form. My work is rooted in simplicity, yet it immediately forces the viewer to consider the aesthetic values of form, balance, and scale. And if I’ve done my job right, it may even provoke some thoughts regarding our human condition — namely, our interconnectedness and our desire to stand apart in a world that often imposes conformity.
